Joseph D. Quarin

After joining Progressive Waste Solutions’ (“Progressive”) inaugural leadership team in 2000, Joe was an integral part of the company’s growth and success over the following fifteen years. The company’s revenues grew from US$100 million to US$2.0 billion through a combination of organic growth and strategic acquisitions. Progressive had over 7,000 employees at the end of 2015. He retired in January 2016 as President and Chief Executive Officer after engineering a US$4.8 billion reverse-merger. The transaction created a company with proforma revenues of US$4 billion and market capitalization of more than US$11 billion.

Joe holds a Master of Business Administration (with Distinction, 1995) from the Ivey Business School at the University of Western Ontario, a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours, 1988) from the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University, and is a Chartered Professional Accountant and Chartered Accountant (1992). He was recognized as #10 on the Financial Post’s Top 100 CEO Scorecard 2016, delivering a two-year return of 78% to shareholders, and named one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 in 2004.
