Thomas Brandenburger
Chief Data Scientist
Tom is a seasoned data scientist with more than 20 years of leadership, deep technical expertise, and consulting experience in both the public and private sectors. In 2009, he founded rProfet, an experienced and talented consulting group focusing on subprime and near-prime customer behavior decision science. Tom spent 7 years as the Chief Data Scientist of ValidiFI, a predictive bank account and payment intelligence company, where he built and led the data science team from pre-revenue into a leader of alternative credit data and scores, leading to a successful sale/merger with Ribbit. Tom was a Lieutenant Commander with the US Navy for 20 years, leading several organizations with a variety of technical and operational missions.
He is currently a professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at South Dakota State University, teaching courses in Predictive Analytics that focus on credit risk, market response, customer segmentation, retention modeling, collections, and customer behaviors. Tom holds a PhD in Computational Science and Statistics, an M.S. in Mathematics, and a B.S. in Mathematics, all from South Dakota State University.
